This chart shows the global mean sea level rise from 1997 to 2005, measured in millimeters per year. Overall, the global mean sea level is rising. The sea level in 1997 was 4 millimeters. It increased a little bit in 1998 and went up to 5 millimeters in 1999. There was a sharp rise between 1999 and 2000, up to 10 millimeters. Sea level rose steadily in 2001 and 2002, rising 9 millimeters in two years. The sea level reached 20 millimeters in 2003. The rise continued over the next two years, reaching an average sea level of 28 millimeters in 2007. (102 words)
