Dream of Escaping

  Laila, fifteen years old, married with Rasheed, who was a disgusted forty-year-old man. And now Laila is a pregnant, however, the child is not belong to Rasheed, but Tariq, who has always been Laila’s true love. Unfortunately, Tariq has sacrificed in this war in Afghanistan. To smoothly produce their baby, Laila bears this disgrace, because she couldn’t have family any more. Day in, day out, the child was growing up. Laila has been planing to escape this suffering place with money stolen from Rasheed per day.

  Finally, The opportunity has come. She fled from this so called “home” as a refugee with her child. Yes, she got rid of his control, and achieved her long-term dream of escaping from this place, the war, the country and even the severe sexual discrimination. This was Laila’s first time out of the house, and when she arrived at train station, she was so excited about what would happen next. But this feeling did not last long. The police blocked her ongoing way, just because she violated the strict Islamic law that forbade their travel without a man relative. Her dream was broken. Sending her to home, you know, how terrifying things she would meet. “ Welcome home” Rasheed said with frightful smile. Then the punch came to the Laila, the beating began.There was no cursing, no screaming, no pleading, no surprised yelps, only the systematic business of beating and being beaten.

  Rasheed locked her into a small and dark room, what remained here is only blood, breathing, and her shattered dream. Her dream of escaping will always be a dream forever.
