Science News for Students: Sleep helps wounds heal faster
Scientists started a experiment to test about how nutrition speeds wound healing between sleep-derived people and people who have sufficient sleep. Their hypothesis is that nutritional boost could allow skin wounds heal faster. However, what the scientists expected are not exactly true: according to their research, sleep-derived people’s wounds heal slower, and people who have enough sleep heal faster with a better immune system. Nevertheless, other studies show that not only sleep affects the immune system and wound healing, other factors and possibilities also may cause impacts.
