Thanks to the jobs boom, unemployment, once the central issue of political economy, has all but disappeared from the political landscape in many countries. It has been replaced by a series of complaints about the quality and direction of work. These are less tangible and harder to judge than employment statistics. The most important are that automation is destroying opportunities and that work, though plentiful, is low-quality and precarious. “Our jobs market is being turned into a sea of insecurity,” says Jeremy Corbyn, leader of Britain’s Labour Party.

1)jobs boom.

Chicago Manual of Style

we often choose by ear and it doesn’t matter (employee lounge, employees lounge).

2)all but.

Thanks to the jobs boom, unemployment, once the central issue of political economy, has all but disappeared from the political landscape in many countries. It has been replaced by a series of complaints about the quality and direction of work.

Thanks to X, Y, once the central issue of Z, has all but disappeared (from W). It has been replaced by V.(第一句中的 political economy 和 political landscape 是同义表达,因此“from the political landscape”也可以去掉,这样仿写起来会更容易一些)

a) Thanks to the introduction of training programs, labor productivity, once the central issue of the manufacturing sector, has all but disappeared from the business landscape in this Asian country. It has been replaced by a series of complaints about the shortage and rising costs of the workforce.

b) Thanks to the economic growth, malnutrition, once the central issue of public health, has all but disappeared in many countries. It has been replaced by a series of complaints about the quality and tatse of food.
