We love karaoke, so do many Chinese people. Thus,t many karaoke mobile apps were born. I played with a few, my favorite so far is 全民K歌 ("everybody karaoke"), developed by Tecent, the software company that developed QQ and WeChat.
Two reasons why I like it:
First of all, it does what it's supposed to do. This is fundamental. And it does a really great job. This app does not only let you listen to songs, sing along, record the singing, but also has a community where you can comment and share other great singers' works.
Secondly, it captures user needs really well during recording. For example, when the accompaniment starts, it asks if you want to skip it to a point where the singing starts. You can also scroll up the lyrics to re-record a previous line. As you re-record, it prompts you with music and voice from the original singer to get you started. Love this design! Very thoughtful.
It's amazing that almost everything in life can be made into some digital form. However, even though I enjoyed this app, I still love the time that our entire family goes out to karaoke together.
