8 Steps To Success（成功八大曲）
The hardest part of networking is usually making that first telephone call or setting up the first meeting! When asked, most people going through change say they do not enjoy this phase.（通常情况下，构建人际网络最困难之处莫过于打第一个电话或约定第一次见面！当被问及此种情形时，大多数经历过职业转变的人都表示这一关他们过得并不顺利。）
Some useful tips:（几个小诀窍：）
1. Force yourself to use the telephone to contact people on your network list.（强迫自己用电话与你人际网络清单上的人联络。）
2. Practise and learn to establish rapport - the process gets easier.（练习并学会与对方建立友好关系——使得交往过程变得更融洽。）
3. State your purpose clearly/directly and listen more than you talk.（清楚地/直接地表明你的意图，多听少说。）
4. Seek permission, ie: ask how much time they will allow you.（寻求许可，例如：询问他们能给你多少时间。）
5. Communicate your enthusiasm and keenness, and ask for their advice and ideas.（表现出你的热情和敏锐，向他们征求建议和想法。）
6. Take lots of notes and, if possible, ask them for referrals to others.（做大量的笔记，如果可能的话，让他们再向你推荐其他人。）
7. Aim to set up face-to-face meetings - your many friendly telephone calls will soon begin to produce results.（想办法能够直接面谈——你先前打过的许多联络感情的电话很快都会开始发挥作用。）
