Today is Tuesday.
Ferdinand went to his favorite cork tree and was ready to sit down and smell the flowers. He was so cozy that he didn't notice that there was a bumble bee just on the grass where he sat. What do you think the bumble bee would do? Sting. Yes, it really stung at Ferdinand's bottom. It hurt Ferdinand very much. He jumped and howled and ran like a fierced bull. The five men looked at him and shouted, "That is the very one we want. He should be in Madrid." So they took him away for the bullfight day in a cart.
It was the fight day. There came lots of people who wanted to watch the Fiercest Ferdinand. And also came many ladies wearing beautiful flowers. First came the Banderilleros with long sharp pins with ribbins on them to stick in the bull and make him mad. Next came the Picadores who rode skinny horses and they had long spears to stick in the bull and make him madder. Then came the Matador, the proudest of all. He had a red cape and a sword and was supposed to stick the bull last of all. Then came the bull, Ferdinand. He walked into the ring of fight. Everyone was waiting for his fiercest performance. But he saw the flowers on ladies' hairs and just sat and smelled the flowers. No one could make him fight, so they had to sent him back to the pasture, where he could sat under his favorite cork tree and smell the flowers quietly.
