This week I finished the book named 《Holes》.I can say it’s the weirdest,funniest book (fiction) I have ever read.I also get some horrible stuff from it like the way I feel when I watch the horrible movie,but actually it was not horrible.But Why is it weird?let me tell you
This book tells about a boy named Stanley Yelnats who was a boy that was been cursed by a witch.This thing began with his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing great-great-grandfather.Stanley’s great-grandfather made a promise with witch 100year s ago,but he forgot to do it.And has since followed generations of Yelnatses. His grandfather,his dad,his great grandfather,his great great grandfather........they always sing a song that pray for break the curse.Of course Stanley was under curse.Bad luck always gets upon his head.Like a pair of expensive sports shoes dropped on his hand.Originally,he was ready to serve a sentence.But teenagers can sent to a boys' detention center Camp Green Lake to take a place of walk into jail.He will live there for 18 mouths.
But this was not a holiday camping,this where the boys build character by spending all day.No one baby sit them,and the food were awful.Drink water even turn to VIP treatment at here.Child at here were always uncomfortable.And there were a lot of dangerous animals like rattlesnake and poison lizards.If you got a bite from them,you have nothing but wait to die.Foreman Mr Sir told them to dig a holes every day(every one of them), digging holes exactly five feet wide and five feet deep.And There is no lake at Camp Green Lake,just the holes that been digging.Stanley didn’t know why his foreman let them dig.I think this place was a jail without wall.
At here,you can’t even have a good night sleep.Cause the tent was in the desert.And sweaty、lonelyness surrounded them.No families,just friend by your side.He make some friends like Zero,X-ray and Myra,Ella.And there was also a funny part.When Stanley went to the camp green lake,he made some friends and one is called X-ray.Of course this was a nickname,but he said that he can really saw the world inside of the living creatures and other things.
Some children couldn’t bear it,So Stanley’s friend Zero ran away first.But out this camp was just desert,Stanley didn’t prove that his friends were still alive.But this gave him power.Stanley get his shot,he drove the water car away when Mr Sir drove it here.But a few steps,the car dropped in the water pool.But he use his leg to ran away.At night he discovered his friend Zero on a boat.They saw there was a thumb hill in the distance.Stanley remember this is the place that save his great-grandfather life.So they went there and use water and wild onions to survive.
Zero said that pair of shoes was him who threw it to Stanley’s head.But why?Because Zero was that witches great-grandson!And that witch is the one who cursed Stanley’s great-grandfather!Meanwhile Zero and Stanley sing that song and the curse was broken by them!
It doesn't take long for Stanley and Zero to realize that Camp Green Lake isn't what it seems.The reason Foreman let them digging holes because the warden is looking for something! But what could be buried under a dried-up lake?So Stanley and Zero went back to do......
He went back and use his friend’s power to dig the hole that Stanley found lipstick.Because this stick belongs to the women who robbed his grandfather 100years ago.They dig for a long time and last They dig out a 70pounds suitcase!But when they discovered it,foreman and warden came to found them but poison lizards came to protect them and didn’t bite Stanley and his friends.So,adults just leave away.But the curse is broke,so his family soon get safe and start the plan to take Stanley home.
At the end of the story,when Stanley’s parents owned their own lawyers,they sanctioned Warden and foreman Mr Sir.After that Stanley’s family open Great grandfather’s suitcase ,in it was the jews,treasures,crowns and so many things.....this made family rich and they live in happiness from this now on.
And the camp green lake has turn into a traveling place with the large pool and many amusement.Because curse was already fade away.
I think this story is fun,but the thing like curse wasn’t real in our world.Author’s mind and thoughts were funny and thats what I like.I think we can get some quality on Stanley.Like made friends,face the difficulties and solve them.But I think compromise is also a important part for us to learn.When destiny and something “beat” you,If your power isn’t enough,you can’t resist so early and quick.Because portable you will get another beat.Wait for it,in the future,you maybe release or have power to resist.
