Rapture
在乱找书翻豆瓣时候,一本书的作者介绍里看到这个词
《the chemistry between us 我们之间的化学反应》的作者之一布莱恩•亚历山大 Brian Alexander 曾经写过《心醉神迷:生物技术如何成为新的宗教》(Rapture: How Biotech Became The New Religion)与《解密美国:寻找性与满意度》(America Unzipped: In Search of Sex and Satisfaction)等书。可惜没找到这些书啊。
n. 兴高采烈 vt. 使…狂喜
Rapture is a feeling of extreme happiness or pleasure.
1. a state of being carried away by overwhelming emotion 2. a state of elated bliss
发现这个词用作蛮多出版的书名的,尤其各种science fiction科幻玄幻奇幻。因为这词有些宗教意思,在圣经里有,说飞天就飞天。
Ah, the joy, the incomparable rapture of that time!
He agreed, sharing my rapture, and gave orders for our water supply to be drawn from that spring.
And the music seized us and swept us away with its rapture and its mystery.
There are many Christians who believe that the second coming of Jesus Christ will be in two phases. First, He will come for believers, both living and dead, in the “rapture” (read 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17). In this view, the rapture—which is the transformation and catching up of all Christians, dead or alive, to meet Christ in the air—will be secret, for it will be unknown to the world of unbelievers at the time of its happening.
