Good work is born from iterations. It's almost impossible to make a masterpiece in one shot, things usually start rough, then get better, and better, and better.
A great novel may start with just a few pages of scribbles. Then, some were tossed into trash and some kept; some ideas got scratched and some further developed. Even when it starts looking like a manuscript, it's not yet done. The author would review each chapter and edit. Then share with friends and edit again. Then, edit again. When she reaches a point that she is satisfied enough, she calls it a day.
Of course, there's never a time a piece of work can be perfectly done. But, we should work hard towards a high goal and make the work as best as it can be, improve it, and improve it again, given the constraints we have. Iterate!
