A Warm Afternoon Story
One fine afternoon, Lily sat in the park and read a book. She turned every page slowly, enjoying the story. Suddenly, she saw a little dog lying on the grass. The dog looked sick and it seemed alone—no one was around to take care of it.
Lily went closer. She didn’t feel weak and scared. Instead, she sat down and said softly to the dog, “Don’t worry. I will help you.” She tried to count how many people passed by, hoping someone could help. But most of them just walked quickly.
Just then, she meet a kind old man. He told Lily the dog might get lost from its owner. Lily said, “Life is hard for small animals when they are lost. We should help them.” The old man nodded. He said, “You are a good girl. Many people ignore the poor little animals, but you are ready to help.”
Later, they found the dog’s owner together. The owner thanked Lily a lot. Lily smiled and thought, “Being kind is the same for everyone. We should never turn a blind eye to those in need.”
