I read a book about travel with culture, it name’s [文化苦旅]. The first story is daoshi Tower which in Mogaoku.
It is the writer went go the Mogaoku and see the tower. The tower’s owner is the criminal of the Mogaoku which is sold the monuments, such as transcript, scroll painting, statue in Tang dynasty and so on, with few money or foreign products or other low value things.
In this book, the qing dynasty’s officer just too wasteful to care the monuments. But the foreign scholar, adventurer came there with endure hardship or even died in the desert.
Now, we had to bought the Dunhuang literature from foreigner then researching it.
