世界艾滋病日， World AIDS Day
世界艾滋病日为每年 12 月 1 日，1988 年由世界卫生组织设立，是全球首个针对艾滋病的公共卫生纪念日。
艾滋病由人类免疫缺陷病毒 HIV 引起，会慢慢破坏人体的免疫能力。这种病毒主要通过特定途径传播，日常握手、共同进餐等接触不会造成感染。
设立这个日子，是为了普及艾滋病相关知识，消除大家对感染者的误解与歧视，同时呼吁更多人重视防护。各地会开展科普活动，宣传正确的预防方式，倡导关爱艾滋病感染者。
World AIDS Day falls on December 1. It was set up by the World Health Organization in 1988. It is the world’s first public health observance about AIDS.
AIDS is caused by HIV, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. It slowly breaks down the body’s immune system.
The virus spreads only through certain ways. Daily contact like shaking hands or sharing meals cannot spread it.
This day helps spread AIDS knowledge, clear misunderstandings and end discrimination against people living with HIV.
It also asks people to pay attention to protection. Many places hold science popularization activities to teach correct prevention methods and call for care for HIV patients.
