One's name is very important. When someone introduces you or you introduce yourself, the first word must be this is... Name is an important part of your identity.

Giving kid name is a matter of feeling pleased and worry. In china kids' name are gaven by  grandfather, grandmother or respected relative. In 60s to 00s, the top 5 the most popular names for babies in china are Jun, Wei, Yong, Chao, Tao for boy; Ying, Li, Jing, Ting for girl. An interesting  thing is in US , it's the same as china, top 4 names are George, Jacob, Michael, Stanley for boy; Betty Emily Jane Nicole for girl. In 2016 Chinese kids’ names got a big change. Top 5 the most popular names are Haoran, Zixuan, Haoxuan, Yuxuan, Haoyu for boy; zixuan, Zihan, Shihan, Kexing, Yinuo for girl. I can’t check information about USA.

Name can become popular because of famous actors, TV or book characters or athletes, and have deep mark of the times I guess. Popular names suggest positive things, unpopular names suggest negative thing. Certainly, all people love positive names, it stand for intelligence, health, independent, gentleness, beautiful. Right now, young parents are more emphasis on happy and sunshine. But old parents general focus on great, struggle.

According to traditional custom, kid is father’s surname, with the development of the times, some kids are mothers’ surname, especially second kid.

In china, usually kids have two names, one is official name and nickname. I know some kids have four names in US.
