Lesson 11 One good turn deserves another
I was having dinner at a restaurant when Tony Steele came in. Tony worked/wɜːk/in a lawyer's /ˈlɔɪ.ər/ office years ago, but he is now working at a bank /bæŋk/. He gets a good salary /ˈsæl.ər.i/ , but he always borrows money from his friends and never pays it back. Tony saw me and came and sat at the same table. He has never borrowed money from me. While /waɪl/he was eating, I asked him to lend /lend/
me twenty pounds. To my surprise, he gave me the money immediately. 'I have never borrowed any money from you,' Tony said, 'so now you can pay /peɪ/for my dinner!'
Where /weər/ 和while 发音区分开
/eə/是集中双元音,旧版英式音标符号[ɛə],美式英语音标符号[ɛr]。
发音方法：
现在来看看我们应该如何正确的发出/eə/这个音。
1）学习该音的发音方法请先学习/e/和/ə/这两个单元音。
2）首先先发前元音/e/，同时舌尖轻触下齿。
3）然后很快滑向/ə/音，发音过程中双唇半开。
注意：/eə/是个"集中双元音"，发音/e/时嘴角向两边拉，滑向/ə/音收小，口型由大变小。
