Qualcomm has suffered the largest fine in South Korean history, of 1 trillion won ($850m). The government found that Qualcomm had abused its market power, overcharging mobile-phone producers for the right to use its chips in their handsets. Lower chip prices could improve the position of handset-makers in South Korea.
