omnivore: an animal that eats both meat and plants
delimma: a situation in which it is very difficult to decide what to do , because all the choices seem equally good or especially bad.
而作者是要解决这些食物从哪里来,经历什么样的工业食物链而来到我们的餐桌上“what to eat was to go back to the very begining, to follow the food chains that sustain us, all the way from the earth to the plate- to a small number of actual meals.”
工业和农业的发展让人类在吃的方面选择更广,然而人类的健康却被推进了史无前例的危险的境地“By replacing solar energy with fossil fuel, by raising millions of food animals in close confinement, by feeding those animals they never evolved to eat, and by feeding ourselves foods far more novel than we even realize, we are taking risks with our health and the health of the natural world that are unprecedented.”
