occurrence多指日常生活中发生的一般事件,有时也指偶然发生的事。例如:Theoccurrenceof failure isinevitable and independent of man’s will.

happening指发生的一般事件,尤指奇怪事件。例如:There have been reports of strange happenings inthe town.
