《Messenger》是the giver quartet四部曲的第三本，这部和第一部《The Giver》和第二部《Gathering the Blue》的人物联系在了一起。可见四部还是有关联的。这一部我看的最轻松，比前面两部比起来。

《Messenger》讲述的是第二部中的Matt(在这部叫Matty)在新的村庄做送信人，这个村子本来以欢迎陌生人为荣，但是因为一股不知明的黑暗力量，导致村庄要关闭，Matty是唯数很少的可以穿越森林的人，他要把信息送达到周围的入口。更重要的是他要把Seer的女儿（也就是刺绣人Kira）带来。但是森林变得可怕，Matty也发现自己拥有神秘的力量。

It had rained heavily, and though the rain had stopped, wind still blew, and the leaves of the trees fluttered and revealed their pale undersides. The sky was dark, from the storm and from the approach of evening.
