《little women》is a novel written by America writer Louisa May Alcott. It was written 150 years ago. The novel is about Mrs. March with her 4 daughters to live through the American civil war when Mr. March is in the war.
The novel has been so popular for so long time. Why it is so hot?
I read the novel in my youth time. I was impressed so much. Especially by Jo March, the second daughter in March family. Jo is so brave and smart. She wanted to go along with her father to the war but failed. She tried to support the family by anything she could do.
1. She wrote the novels to sell.
2. She took care of her aunt March to make some money.
3. She sold her long hair for 25$ to let her mother bring to his father in war.
Besides the second daughter, The March family has another 3 daughter, Meg, Amy, Beth. All these ladies are happy and full of energy. Meg is a teacher, Amy draws, Beth loves music and play piano.
Why March girls are so good? They are modest and with strict self-control. They have supportive parents.
1. The parents are good example. They help others.
- March family has ever been rich. Father helped one of his friends but failed with all the money lost in vain. They move to an old house for living. Mr. March was old but he choose to go to the frontline to serve the country. Mrs March also worked for the country to do some administrative job.
- On Christmas morning, Mrs March found her poor neighbor Hermel was shortage of food and clothes, they took their breakfast to them as Christmas gifts. Later, Ms. March call on her families with good condition to help their family regularly.
- The have a rich neighbor. They are rich but the family seems so lonely because the poor child lost his parents. The March family bring happiness to him.
2. The accept other help from others. The neighbor had good wealth. They send flowers and piano to Mrs. March. They are happy to have it.
3. Happy mother，happy family. Mrs March was also not an ideal mother at first. But she wanted to change her temper for she loves her little women. She asked his husband to help her. Mr. March will print the finger on the mouth to stop Mrs. March if she wants to burn out. And Mrs March sings well. Every morning she sings some happy songs.
4. They have rituals for good life. They pray for god father for good fortune. They send gifts to each other in special days. They choose gifts carefully. And, the family encourage family films, for they think it is good for memory and it can avoid bad social habbits.
5. The parents compliment the children always. “my sweets””I am proud of you”. Even when Amy asks to quit the school, they accept. For the gifts from each girl, Ms. March feedback with specific thanks. And for the flowers, even the neighbor send the fresh ones, But Ms March loves the one from her Beth.
Supportive parents are so great. They are just angel sent to us. We enjoy their love as their kids. We now are pass the love to our children. If you want to know more, open the book and enjoy it. You will be encouraged, for sure!
