Dear guests and new members,
Thank you for your attending of yesterday’s meeting. Everyone set aside one afternoon for this openday meeting, which showed your strong desire to learn new skills and new knowledge. I want to give an extra thumb up to those looking after a kid during the meeting, because it is a huge challenge to calm down them for a so long time as the meeting is so boring and tedious for them.
I want to share my experience with you. About one year ago, I attended the first openday of our club, and I joined the club immediately at site, which now I think is a big impulse because I never heard of this club before. The reason I join the club is I want to learn English so that I can tutor my daughter’s English study. Later I realized I found another huge treasure in this club. That is communication skills and leadership skills. The more you get to know these skills the more you realize how important they are. I don’t want to talk about these skills much though they are the most important parts of toastermaster. What I want to emphasize is as follows:
Roma is not built in a day. Learning English or mastering communication and leadership skills is a very long journey for anyone. It takes a lot of efforts and time and the process can be full of fun, interesting or boring, depending on your attitude and performance. You need to overcome many obstacles in the way. Anyone should be aware of this. But don’t be scared, for in this club we will provide a supportive and positive environment, which would make it easy for you to hold on.
Don’t be afraid of losing face. We are all afraid of making mistake when facing audience . We think it is embarrassing and humiliating. This situation does not fit in our club. In our club losing face is a good thing. Only if you realize you are losing face can you get a chance to fix the mistake and improve yourself. We are not born with all kinds of skills, we learn and master them step by step. You come to the club to practice your skills, to find out your weakness, to fix them, not to show off. When you have improved much, it is your time to prove how amazing you are in your work place and in your daily life. Yesterday I made so many mistakes at the stage, now I recognize these mistakes after the meeting, then next time I will try to avoid them. In a word in our club losing face is a good thing, and enjoying losing face!
For the guests, I think you may be not sure to join our club, and maybe you are hesitating. It is normal. And please don’t make a hasty decision. Because the club will charge you when joining the club. You can visit our in regular meeting, do sufficient research and homework, know more about our club, and make a wise decision. At present we don’t charge guest for attending regular meeting, so make good use of the present policy. We warmly welcome every guest to attend our regular meeting.
