Prediction is one of the reading skills. How to do prediction? Here are different activities to predict what the text or the story is about.
Activity 1:
Write the title of the text or story, and to predict what it could be about.
Activity 2:
Write the beginning and the ending of the story on the board, and ask the learners to guess what happens in the middle.
Activity 3:
Write the topic on the board and ask the learners to brainstorm words that are connected with the subject.
Activity 4:
Ask learners to talk about the subject in connection with their own lives.
Activity 5:
Write the topic on the board and ask learners to talk about what they already know about the subject of the text.
Activity 6:
Show learners objects that appear in the text, and ask them to guess what the text or story is about.
Activity 7:
Write words from the text or show learners pictures that connect to the text, and ask them why they may be important.
Activity 8:
Show learners the illustrations from a story book, and ask them to guess what happens.
