As the saying goes, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. After the survey that day, we went to the famous beach Santa Monica. It's really fascinating but the ultraviolet there is strong as well. In order to not be sunburnt, I put on my sunglasses and took the sun umbrella. It was such an interesting thing to find that all the people who got a sun umbrella would be Chinese.
Day 6
It finally came to the topic of education on Wednesday, but not as good as I had thought. The Chinese and American education structure was only briefly introduced and there was no in-depth explanation. After all, this is a general class, not a professional class. In the afternoon, we went to CSUSB to visit the campus, and invited the professor of the university to give us a lecture. This teacher is very funny and talktive so I didn't feel so nervous as before and asked him a few questions.
Later, there came two undergraduates who talked with us so that we can get a general understanding of the situation in American universities. After taking the survey yesterday, it was much more easier to open my mouth to ask questions and talk with them this time. Just believe in yourself and take it easy and everything will go smoothly.
In the evening, dad made the tacos for us. It is a spanish dish which is really delicious.
Day 7
Thursday is a busy day. We set off early in the morning and went to the Christian Elementary School to do the volunteer. Our job is to pack the food and give it to the poor. Compared with them, I think we are all poor. They were all neatly dressed and came here by car. It is not because the United States does not have a tramp, but these reliefs are more directed at people with a little life security. Those tramps can hardly got here, and a meal does not help them change too much. Some large commercial groups bought food, school bags (sold more than 300RMB in our country), shoes, pajamas and various daily necessities for them, we are mainly responsible for distribution.
The breakfast that Mom cooked this morning was not so good (oatmeal fried with syrup...) So we also ate some hot dogs that were given to them. We were too busy to find time to eat lunch, so…hot dogs again. In the afternoon, as soon as I returned to the study centre I fell asleep on the table. Later in the afternoon, we learned about the theoritical knowledge about volunteer and then worked in groups to make an organization poster. In the evening mom made pasta for us that was quite delicious.
Day 8
Friday was a day we have all been looking forward to because it was a trip to the Universal Studios. We left about 7:45 in the morning but arrived there almost 10:30 because there was another Chinese team that would leave so Roy and Janelle said goodbye to them. Keke has been complaining that it was too late to play, and we had to wait such a long time for there were so many people. I was a little annoyed by her complaint. Why are you complaining all the time? Just have fun.
Roy got us a quick pass for the studio tour, so we didn't have to wait in the queue, it was really cool. The tour bus took us through a lot of highlights and there were some mechanical activities. Just before the day we came there, we have watched the movie ' back to the future' with our host family. We saw the location of the film there, which made us so excited. Then we went to Simpson (because Jasmine said this was the best one) and then we went to Harry Potter, the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, the Mummy Revenge. Because I had not eaten Chinese food for many days so we ordered Chinese food for dinner that day.
