Just as one Chinese saying goes: it’s better to travel then thousand miles than to read ten thousand books. Everybody loves traveling to some degree. Yes, the world is just so big that we all want to go on traveling to explore it.

Here comes my question: why is traveling so fascinating? Is there anyone who can give me an answer?  …

Yes, we can see that different people have different answers. Traveling is wonderful in many ways and there are plenty of things we can gain from it, such as making new friends, trying delicious food, experiencing different cultures and broadening your horizons.

But from my point of view, the most important thing we can benefit from traveling is that we can learn better how to communicate with this world.

To support this conclusion, I will give out 3 reasons.

Firstly, traveling can teach us how to communicate with the nature. While on traveling, we have chances to explore the nature, enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and encounter the lovely animals. We’re always shocked by the beauty and the power of the nature. We realize that we should respect and take care of every flower, every tree and every animal of the nature. They are our friends and they have the same rights as human beings to live on this planet. Instead of struggling with the nature, we should live peacefully with it and show our greatest respect to it.

In this way, traveling is teaching us how to communicate with the nature.

Secondly, traveling can teach us how to communicate with the people from different cultures and backgrounds. When we travel to a different city or a different country, we can get a better understanding of the people living there including their culture, history and background by talking to the local people, by tasting their food, by visiting their museums and by experiencing as many the details of their everyday life as possible. All these will help us understand each other’s differences more easily. Once we realize the basic fact that people living in this world are different, we also become aware of that we should respect each other’s differences, we should cooperate with and support each other when facing common problems instead of fighting with each other. By doing this, we can greatly reduce the chances of unpleasant arguments, conflicts and even wars in the world.

In this way, traveling is teaching us how to communicate with people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Last but not the least, traveling can teach us how to communicate with ourselves. When traveling, we can enrich our experiences, broaden our horizons and get thoroughly relaxed. Most of all, we have much more time to hear the true voice of our heart. All these will help us to know ourselves better, help us to figure out who we are and what we really need. To some extent, traveling is a journey to discover ourselves. We know that we should choose to be friend of ourselves, cherish what we have owned and stop pushing ourselves on pursuing what is more than we really need.

In this way, traveling is teaching us how to communicate with ourselves.
