I watched English US TV series two years ago. Friends is my favorite. But I didn’t have so much time to watch TV after work so I searched the sound record of Friends and listened to it when I was walking or riding or eating. And I gradually found listening is a great way for me to use spare time to learn new things and entertain myself. The more I listen, the more I enjoy the moment of listening.
I’ve read books written in English for over two years and one day, I tried to listen to one book I’d read and to my surprise, I could understand about 80%~90% of what the speaker said. At that time, I felt I found the new continent and began to listen to books I had read crazily. It means I read one book twice which deepens my memory. And I found I’m more an auditory reader than a visual one which astonished me.
Now I pay all my listening time to different podcasts. I like the Tim Ferriss Show, TED Radio Hour, 996 and more. It makes me calm when I wear the headphone and open the podcast. I listen about 90 minutes every day. Sometimes I listen very carefully and sometimes I treat it as the BGM.
Listening to podcasts cracks a new way for me to learn the world. The more I listen, the more I’m astonished there’re so many interesting people around the world and the more I’m willing to experience different lives.
Hope you’ll enjoy listening to podcasts.
