Stratified teaching objectives (which can be tailored to different student situations)
It is concretized into three levels of teaching objectives:
A.Basic Level Objectives (For All Students)
1.Language knowledge
Be able to correctly recognize, understand and apply the core vocabulary related to diseases, emotions and art in the text.
2.Content understanding
Be able to accurately answer superficial questions about "who, when, where and what" in a story, and sort out the plot development with the help of charts (such as Story Mountain).
3.Initial Insights
Be able to tell the most touching part of the story and feel the care between people.
B.Advanced Level Goals (for the majority of students)
1.Language application:
Be able to use English and, based on one's own understanding, retell this story to classmates.
2.The textual analysis：
Be able to analyze Johnsy and Behrman character image, and its changes.
3.Thinking training:
Be able to understand the symbolism of the "the last leaf", and discuss "what is Behrman's masterpiece? Why?" Get a preliminary understanding of O. Henry's writing techniques.
C. Extended Layer Objectives (For Students with spare capacity for study)
1.Critical thinking ：
Be able to evaluate whether "Behrman's sacrifice was worthwhile" and make a simple English statement.
2. Migration and Innovation
Be able to make creative oral or written expressions on the topic of "The 'Last Leaf' in My life", connect with reality and share personal insights.
3. Literary appreciation
Be able to initially appreciate how the author shapes characters and advances the plot through concise language and dialogue.
