11.go unnoticed
“go unnoticed”的意思是“被忽略” “未被注意”,是一个学习者可能会觉得有点“别扭”的地道常见表达。比如,你一直勤勤恳恳、踏踏实实的做事,别人是不可能注意不到的,这时我们就可以说:
Hard work hardly goes unnoticed.
你可能已经注意到了,“go unnoticed”前面常与 rarely/hardly 连用,用双重否定的形式加强表达效果。
英文中“go + un___ ”的表达还有很多,比如“go unrecognized”(没有人承认/认可)和“go unreported”(没有被报道)

12.outlive
“outlive”的基本意思是“比…活得长”、“比…持久”,例如 He outlived his wife. Outlive 还经常和 one’s usefulness 搭配使用,表示某人或某物不再有用。想说:“你现在对我来说,已经没什么用了”,就可以说:
Now you have outlived your usefulness to me.
我们想表达“no longer useful”时,就可以用到 outlive one’s usefulness 这个常见表达。

13.last
想到“持续”我们可能会立刻想到“continue”,很多时候其实也可以用“last”来替换。“last”作为动词可以表示“持续”,它的主语一般是一个事件、情形、问题。

14.vary
“vary”的意思是“与……不同,有别于……” 相比来说,大家可能更熟悉它的形容词形式“various”(“各种各样的”)和名词形式“variety”(“多样性或变化”),其实“vary”也是灵巧、好用的小词,它常被用于不及物动词,可以和“differ”同义替换。
当我们想表达“不同的XX有不同的YY”的时候,就可以用到“vary”。
Opinions vary.
“Y(常是复数) vary from X(单数) to X(单数)”来表示“不同的 X 有不同的 Y”。
Answers vary from person to person.
Public holidays vary from country to country

15.emerge
'emerge'是“显现” “露出”的意思,我们对这个词可能已经很熟悉了,但是写英语的时候可能很少会想到它。其实它和“appear”一样,是个常见不及物动词。
As we age, specific health problems emerge.
Problems emerge and some people try to sweep them under the rug.
As children approach their adolescence, new challenges emerge.
From office dialogues, stories emerge.
