I felt we only had a couple of weeks of "real summer" in Oakland, California, and it's been really cold the rest of the days.
One of the best things to keep you warm is a bowl of "sour spicy soup", which you can find from almost all Chinese restaurants. I'm pretty sure it's not an invention by American Chinese restaurants, but for me, it was not until I got to the US did I have this soup often.
Imagine that you are walking on a street in a very cold day, possibly shaking and rubbing your hands. It would be a perfect time for you to get a hot bowl of this soup and get warmed up. Then, you become energetic again!
