《庄子》：
泉涸，鱼相与处于陆，相呴以湿，相濡以沫，不如相忘于江湖。
译文：
泉水干了，鱼就一同困在陆地上，用湿气互相吹嘘，用口沫互相湿润，那不如还在水波浩淼的江湖里彼此忘记，各不关心。
原文：
泉涸，鱼相与处于陆，相呴以湿，相濡以沫，不如相忘于江湖。与其誉尧而非桀，不如两忘而化其道。
译文：
泉水干了，鱼就一同困在陆地上，用湿气互相吹嘘，用口沫互相湿润，那不如还在水波浩淼的江湖里彼此忘记，各不关心。人们与其赞美尧而反对桀，不如把尧跟桀的是非两下里都忘掉而融化于道。
When the springs are dried up, the fishes collect together on the land. Than that they should moisten one another there by the damp about them, and keep one another wet by their slime, it would be better for them to forget one another in the rivers and lakes. And when men praise Yao and condemn Jie, it would be better to forget them both, and seek the renovation of the Dao.
