以太(ether)是一种曾被假想的电磁波的传播媒质,但后来被证实并不存在。

19世纪,科学家们逐步发现光是一种波,而生活中的波大多需要传播介质(如声波的传递需要借助于空气,水波的传播借助于水等)。受传统力学思想影响,于是他们便假想宇宙到处都存在着一种称之为以太的物质,而正是这种物质在光的传播中起到了介质的作用。

按照当时的猜想,以太充满整个宇宙,电磁波可在其中传播。地球在围绕太阳公转,相对于以太具有一个速度v,因此如果在地球上测量光速,在不同的方向上测得的数值应该是不同的,最大为c+v,最小为c-v(此时存在假设以太相对太阳参考系是静止的。但即使以太相对太阳参考系不是静止的,在不同的方向上测得的数值也应该是不同的)。但是1881年-1884年,阿尔伯特·迈克尔逊(Albert Michelson)和爱德华·莫雷(Edward Morley)为测量地球和以太的相对速度,进行了著名的迈克尔逊—莫雷实验,测量了不同方向上的光速。然而实验结果显示,并不存在这个速度差异。这实际上证明了光速不变原理,即真空中光速在任何参照系下具有相同的数值,与参照系的相对速度无关,以太其实并不存在。后来又有许多实验支持了上面的结论。

以太说曾经在一段历史时期内在人们脑中根深蒂固,深刻地左右着物理学家的思想。著名物理学家洛伦兹推导出了符合电磁学协变条件的洛伦兹变换公式,但无法抛弃以太的观点。爱因斯坦则大胆抛弃了以太学说,认为光速不变是基本的原理,并以此为出发点之一创立了狭义相对论。虽然后来的事实证明确实不存在以太,不过以太假说仍然在我们的生活中留下了痕迹,如以太网(Ethernet)等。

光速并不是无限大的,而是有限的

Eg:离得近   说一起跳  声速光速都可以忽略

两个山头说咱俩一起跳声速有限了,那么跳也不是同时了

但是如果站在不同星系上。光速也是有限了,那么说一起跳(以某种方式传播这个信号)得到这个信号也是很久后了

因为发出信息、接受信息是需要时间

物体很难超过光速。因为E=mc方,爱因斯坦这个公式后来诞生了原子弹    任何有质量的物体都有其所蕴含的能力,当然这个能力需要外力去激发。比如用原子去轰铁板,当然其质量也会有所减少,rest mass有静质量动质量区分,relatively mass

所以时间维度空间维度是等价的(狭义相对论和质能守恒定律的联系)用光速不变的原理测距离,光年既是长度距离,也是时间距离,1光年即你星球与那个星球的距离有一年的时间距离。

广义相对论与狭义相对论的主要区别是要不要考虑重力场的变化问题,重力场会对光的频率造成影响。

光传播无介质“以太”

光速同地球、背地球方向是不变的以太假说光的传播介质,计算是就是我的速度+介质的速度Eg:我在火车上跑,我的绝对速度=我相对速度+火车介质速度

如果一个人乘着光速的飞船,在飞船上又发出了一束光,那么正常来说这就是两倍光速,这是不存在的,所以光传播介质以太是不存在的

弯曲的时空

大质量的星球会弯曲时空,有时候我们觉得两点直线最短,而事实能走的最小距离是在弯曲时空里的直线,比如地球二维曲面(二维是经度纬度),两点间最短量是经过两点的大圈the great circle,就是指经过地心的圆的弧度

所以加上时空,弯曲的时空最短也不是直的了,地球绕太阳转也就是在走最短距离而非是离心力引力的平衡

光线也会弯折。    时间在遇到重物、天体时会偏慢
