As an UN organization, IOM(International Organization for migration) plays an active role in ensuring the humane and orderly flow of migrants, easing the tensions of the process and resolving conflicts during the process.
For example,IOM provide the expert service for those who require migration assistance, helps to make voluntary return, reintegration of the migrants into the destination countries, advocate the respect for human rights, help the vulnerable populations, information campaigns to educate the public, institutional capacity-building of the governments and civil society, and management of inland and overseas migration toward the environmental elements.
As 2030 SDG has recognized the positive contribution of migrants to inclusive growth and development, I believe what IOM did is largely contributing to the world economic and social development of states.
As migration issue in becoming increasingly important because our world is now facingthe population explosion, what IOM did largely strengthen the ties between states.
IOM encourages cooperation and coordination among different agencies and states while facing emergency or post crisis situations, supported all states in the development and delivery of programmes.
While in peaceful situation, IOM assists all states to facilitate the integration of migrants while at the same time, promote international dialogue on migration, share the studies and technical expertise consistent with internationallaw, and to advance understanding of the issue and advances the international cooperation.
