I have read an interesting story about animals. Maybe you have heard about Animal Farm. It is written by George Orwell.
This work got high prize. It won a Retrospective Hugo Award in 1996 and is also included in the Great Books of the Western World. It is no exaggeration to say that perhaps it is the 20th century's best chronicler of English culture.
It is the first time that I have tried to read original English books, so I just understand something on the surface and it is only an interesting story about animals.
Actually, it is far more than that.I searched many materials and figured out something.
Story began from an pig, Old Major. He got a high position in the animal farm.
Before he died, he had a strange dream, so he called on all the animals in the bare to have a meeting for passing on to them the wisdom that he had aquired in his whole life.
He said that the plain truth is that the life of animal is misery and slavery.
However the chief culprit is man. Remove Man from the scene, and the root cause of hunger and overwork is abolished forever.
After Old Major’s death,two young pigs,Snowball and Napoleon,became the new leaders, and they finally drove the owner away from the farm and changed the name to "Animal Farm".
From that moment on, they had a happy life. However it didn't last long. Snowball was declared to be the enemy of the farm and was expelled.So,Napoleon became the only leader.
Gradually, what he did is just like the man did to the animals, but they didn't feel it even think that their life is better than before.
Napoleon had some political talent and he actually did good to the farm at the beginning. Maybe because of that he became the only leader of the farm so all the power is centralized .
All the weakness had appeared. He did all the things just for his own benifits and enjoyment, and also cheated others that what he did was benificial to the farm.
What makes me most impressive is the story of the horse, Boxer. He devoted his whole life into the construction of the farm.
But when he badly hurt because of overwork,Napoleon sold him for money to buy himself whiskey.
Therefore,we could see that the bottom of society is so miserable. In the end,the pigs who used to be the leader of the revolution,is as same as their enemy in the past,human,and maybe a new round of revolution will begin.
This is the real society.
