Going to college used to be a dream for many people in China so that some even tried again and again for the Collage Entrance Examinationregardless of their age. Nowadays, what stimulates the Senior Three students to study so hard is the goal to go to college or a better college. However, it is possible that some students are even ignorant about the reasonsthey have to go to college. And for most of the parents, they might think that the education of college would help their children get a better-paid job in the future. Put aside the job, going to college indeed could be the preparation for the future at least in the following three ways:
College is mainly for students and Professors to do academic researches. In other words, as students, we focus on more studying than on any other things such as making a living. Unlike being involved of business, there would be fewer conflicts of interest when we are doing a project. As the result, we could accomplish the study in an efficient and high-outcome way. For example, in one of my projectsaboutcultural investigation in a village with over 700-year history. We finished it with 8000yuan, which was said to be fairly not enough for the peopleoffthe collegeto finish it. They might spend more money on the fee or other stuff that have little to do directly with the investigation; and more time would be taken to deal with the conflicts of interests. The experience, in which we deal with and work hard for only academic things, would be unforgettable in one’s life. What’smore, it makes a difference on the development of the society.
Further education helps us with self-control through reflecting on the humanity. In college, we get a chance to get access to different subjects and different ways of thinking, and to reflect about what we have learned. Before college, we triedour best to figure out the right answer of the exams, while in college we are encouraged to think criticallyfor different answers.By reading classics and communicating with others in the college, we can look through the superficiality and above all get to know about the humanity instead of following others blindly or making ridiculous decisions. In this way, we might be saved from getting lost or confused in the future.
One of the characters of university life is thatweare going to make choice forourselves and try different things in college. If we jump directly into the society and miss the college life, we might have to do as the elder or the boss tell us in the rest of our life; otherwise, we have to take responsibility for ourselves. No one else would pay for us. To be careful, we might put aside our passion for creation day by day. However, in college, professors are there for us to consult, and projects are there for us to show our creativity. Without worry of mistakes and the dismissal, we can make our own choices and be creative when facing different challenges.
Life in college could be one of the most important periods for us. During the life in university, we could enjoy the process of busying for academic projects, enrich our spiritual wold as well as feel free to be creative. With such an experience, we get relatively ready for the future.
