第二天一早，小女孩收拾好行李，准备出发去寻找妈妈说的智者。她很期待见到这个智者，因为他能够指引小女孩找到她的命运。不过小女孩儿并不知精灵之泉在哪里，她只听人们有时讨论过这个地方，好像是在小女孩家的东北方向。这是小女孩唯一知道的关于精灵之泉的信息，所以她现在唯一能做的就是沿着这个方向一直向前走。小女孩心中没有丝毫恐惧，她反而对未知感到好奇和开心，因为她现在能够独自在外旅行了，而这次旅行的过程中她一定能够见到更多的人和事物。小女孩希望能够和更多的生灵交流，因为她想要对这个世界了解更多，她想知道为什么世界树是世界的中心，为什么自己会是被选中的世界树之子之一。小女孩愉快的向前走着，跟随着手上指引方向的罗盘，放眼望去这个世界显得十分明亮，空气中流动着美丽柔和的色彩，向天空中看去可以眺望邻近的行星，还可以看到无数闪烁的恒星。这个世界总是充满着让人愉悦和安宁的能量，因为世界树扎根在这颗星球上，源源不断地供给其生命之源的能量。
在这天傍晚的时候小女孩到了一个小村庄，居住在这个小村庄的人看见小女孩的到来之后热情地迎接了她。夜晚的时候，小女孩和村民们一起聊天，她告诉了他们她从哪里来，她为什么在这里，又将要去向何处。小女孩和村民们聊了她还在自己的村庄的时候发生的有趣的故事，也向村民们询问了关于世界树之子和精灵之泉的事情。村民们惊讶于小女孩在这么小的年纪就能够有比较成熟的思想，不过在了解到小女孩是世界树之子之后便明白了。村民们告诉小女孩精灵之泉就在距他们村庄不远的一片森林里面，出了村庄之后，一直向北走，走半天应该就能到那片森林了。村民接着给小女孩说，当她到达那片森林之后，她会听到一个微弱却甜美的歌声；在进入森林之后，跟着这个甜美的歌声，并且往声音比较强的地方走。
小女孩在这个小村庄休息了一晚上，和村民们告别之后便又出发了。她跟着罗盘往北走，走了一段时间之后，小女孩终于到达了这片森林，她看见在离森林很远的地方有一棵巨大无比的闪耀着光芒的树，这棵树从顶端延伸出一个白色的光柱。小女孩网上看，发现这个光柱冲破天际，一直向上延伸到宇宙中，仿佛没有尽头。就像村民说的，小女孩在刚进森林的时候听到了一阵微弱却甜美的歌声，她跟着这个歌声在森林里走着，歌声从最开始的微弱渐渐变得清晰。在森林里走了几个小时之后，小女孩找到了歌声的源头，也就是精灵之泉。她发现在泉水旁边有一个老人正坐在木制的躺椅上，闭着双眼，面朝着精灵之泉。小女孩被精灵之泉的美丽深深迷住了。泉水本身闪耀着淡金色和白色相间的光芒，这个光芒温柔并且温暖，让小女孩感觉自己这几天旅行带来的疲劳全都被这个光芒治愈了。
在小女孩走进智者的时候，智者也同时打开了他的双眼。他告诉小女孩他知道小女孩是谁，又为什么要来到这里。智者接着告诉小女孩世界树是通过看一个灵魂来决定谁是世界树之子的，如果这个灵魂有足够的经历，并且年龄也够了的话，就会在这个灵魂作为人出生的时候被选为世界树之子。智者告诉小女孩被选作成为世界树之子的人在他们的人生中有一个很重要的使命需要去完成，并且每一个世界树之子都需要在他们十二岁的时候去见一见世界树之子。小女孩认真的听完智者说的每一句话，把它们都牢牢地记在心中。接着小女孩在这个森林里面又逛了一会儿，她看到了很多之前从来没有看见过的生灵，比如说小精灵，比如说散发着光芒的一团团光球。她在这个森林又呆了一天，当第二天清晨来临的时候，小女孩心想她应该回家了。
The next day in the morning, the girl sets off to find the sage. She knows that the fairy fountain is somewhere in the forest northeast of her home. So she follows the direction with a compass.
In the evening, the girl finally reaches the forest, and she can see that in the far distance there is a huge luminous tree that radiates a bright white beam to the sky. She asks the people near the forest how to get to the fairy fountain. They tell her that she will hear a weak, but sweet song when she enters the forest and that she must follow the song and go to the direction where the sound is stronger.
The girl then enters the forest and follows what people have told her. After several hours of walking, the girl reaches the fairy fountain, and finds the sage who is sitting on the chair, in front of his wooden house, facing the fairy fountain. The girl is fascinated by the beauty of the fairy fountain. The fountain itself is shining with light in golden yellow and white. The light is so gentle and warm that the girl feels comforted and energized.
The girl goes near the sage, and the sage opens his eyes. He says that he knows who she is and why she is here. He then tells the girl thatthe World Tree chooses one by looking at one's soul, if that soul has experienced enough and is old enough, then that person will be chosen to become the Children of the World Tree at the moment when he or she is born. The sage tells that the children who are chosen have a mission to accomplish in this life, and every child needs to travel to the World Tree at the age of twelve. The girl remembers the words of the sage in her heart, and returns to her home the following day.
