“赢得绝对多数；获得压倒性胜利”英语怎么说？
原文：The ruling Minjoo (Democratic) partywon an outright majorityin the unicameral national assembly.
高斋参考译文：韩国执政党共同民主党（Minjoo party）在国会选举中获得绝对多数优势。
其中win an outright majority是一个固定表达，表示“赢得绝对多数优势”，如外刊这句：
If her momentum continues, she may even win an outright majority.
如果这种势头继续下去，那么她甚至可能以绝对多数胜出。
outright也可以换为overwhelming，即an overwhelming majority。
“在……中赢得获得压倒性胜利”就可以说win an overwhelming majority in或win sth with an overwhelming majority/in a landslide victory，如外刊上这句：
The Labour Party had just wonthe general election with an overwhelming majority.
工党刚刚以绝对多数赢得了大选。
won the general election withan overwhelming majority还可以写为won the general election ina landslide victory，won the landslide victory ina general election。
注意介词不要弄错了。

“延长封锁期”英语怎么说？
原文：Migrant workers protested in Mumbai and other Indian cities as the governmentextendedthe country’s three-week-old lockdown by a furtherthree weeks.
高斋参考译文：印度政府将为期三周的封锁令再延长三周，孟买等城市爆发了工人抗议活动。
1. extend在这里表示“延长时间，延长期限”。
这里使用了three-week-old，说明封锁已经持续三周了，现在原来的基础上再延长三周，所以是extendedthe country’s three-week-old lockdown by a furtherthree weeks。
也可以用extend的名词形式extension表示“延长”，比如bbc上是这么表示“封锁期延长三周”的：
Ministers are later expected to announce a three-week extension to the coronavirus lockdown.
所以今天这个as the government extended the country’s three-week-old lockdown by a further three weeks也可以改写为：
as the government announced a three-week extensionto the country’s three-week-old lockdown.
注意介词，extend ... by和... extension to。
2. a further+数字表示“进一步；继续；再”，如经济学人在说到苹果公司股价进一步下滑时就用到了这个表达：
The company’s share price, which had been sliding for months, fell by a further10% on January 3rd, the day after the news came out.
1月3日，也就是这一消息传出后第二天，苹果已持续下滑数月的股价进一步下跌10%。
拓展：
“封锁还会持续三周”可以说continue for another three weeks，如bbc报道：
Lockdown restrictions in the UK will continue for "at least" another three weeks.
another three weeks还可以说three more weeks。

“东躲西藏”英语怎么说？
原文：He had been in hidingin India until last month.
高斋参考译文：他上个月前一直躲在印度。
be in hiding是固定搭配，表示“躲藏；隐藏”之意。
我们常说“某人不得不东躲西藏”就可以用in hiding来表示，比如voa上的这句话：
Gachoka says he and his wife and five children are now in hiding, fearing the worst.
加科卡说，他和他的妻子以及5个孩子目前不得不东躲西藏，担心发生最坏的情况。
“劝某人先躲一躲”可以说advise sb to get into hiding for a while，如：
They advised her to go into hiding for a while.
他们劝她先躲藏一下。
“藏身之处”可以说hiding place，如：
They flushed them out of their hiding places.
他们把他们从藏身之处赶了出来。
还有一组类似的表达是decline和be in decline（在下降）。经济学人在表示“高薪蓝领工人数量减少”时就用到了in decline这个短语，即：
But high-paying blue-collar jobs have been in decline since then.
但从那时起，高薪蓝领工人一直在减少。
注意hide和in hiding一般不互换，前者表示临时的躲藏，比如躲猫猫hide and seek。

“头号通缉犯”和“逍遥法外”英语怎么说？
原文：A group including American anti-drug agents and Interpol arrested one of Brazil’s most wanted suspected criminals, Gilberto Aparecido dos Santos, in Maputo, Mozambique’s capital. He allegedly trafficked cocaine worldwide as a leader of First Command of the Capital, a gang based in São Paulo, and evaded capturefor 20 years.
高斋参考译文：美国缉毒人员、国际刑警组织等一起参与了此次抓捕行动，在莫桑比克首都马普托逮捕了巴西头号通缉犯吉尔贝托·阿帕雷西多·多斯桑托斯（Gilberto Aparecido dos Santo）。此人是巴西黑帮“首都第一司令部”（First Command of the Capital）（总部设在圣保罗）的一个重要人物，在全球贩卖了大量可卡因，潜逃在外达20年之久。
1. most wanted suspected criminals：头号通缉犯；通缉要犯。“头号通缉犯”也可以说the most wanted man/fugitive。其中fugitive表示逃亡者，尤指逃犯。
“某人是头号通缉犯”也可以说某人在要犯名单（most wanted list）上，即be listed on ...’s most wanted list，或者be fugitive suspects on ...’s most wanted list。
如经济学人上有句话是这么说的：
After 1998, he was listed on theFBI's most wanted list, a $5m bounty on his head.
1998年后，美国联邦调查局把他列入要犯名单，并悬赏500万美元要他的人头。
还比如外刊上这句：
They are fugitive suspects on Taiwan's most wanted list.
他们已被列为台湾头号通缉犯。
2. evaded capture：逍遥法外；在逃；躲避追捕；未被抓获。如外刊在表示“未被抓获”之意时就用到了这个表达，原句是这么说的：
The authors of the declarations are mostly based in Beijing and have so far evaded capture.
这份宣言的作者大多都在北京，至今未被抓获。
“逍遥法外”也可以说escape justice，比如外刊上这句话：
The perpetrators will not escape justice.
凶手不会逍遥法外。
经济学人上在表达“逍遥法外”时还用到了remain at large这个短语，它是这么说的：
Most remain at large.
大部分现在仍逍遥法外。

“休养；疗养”英语怎么说？
原文：The British prime minister is convalescingat Chequers, an official residence.
高斋参考译文：鲍里斯目前正在首相乡间官邸契克斯庄园（Chequers）休养。
convalesce读作[ˌkɑːnvəˈles]，表示“休养；疗养；病后康复”之意。
外刊是这么说的：
Mr. Johnson, who spent three nights in intensive care at St. Thomas’ Hospital in London, will convalesce for some timeat Chequers, the prime minister’s country house.
convalesce for some time意思就是“疗养一段时间”。
convalescing也可以具体说recovering fromcoronavirus/Covid-19，比如这句：
Boris Johnson, who is currently recovering from coronavirus at the country retreat, has his sights on returning before May 11 when the extended lockdownis due to end.
例句中has his sights on是固定表达，表示关注，希望，has his sights on returning before May 11 when the extended lockdown is due to end表示希望5月11前能返回工作，届时英国封锁也将结束。
the extended lockdown同样表示“封锁期延长”。
前面出现的an official residence，the prime minister’s country house，the country retreat是同义表达，都是对契克斯庄园（Chequers）的进一步说明。
所以今天这句The British prime minister is convalescing at Chequers, an official residence也可以改写为：
Boris Johnson is currently recovering from coronavirus at Chequers, the prime minister’s country retreat.
