What's the point of learning English?

To pass an exam, to get a better job, to study abroad?

Sure, but maybe it's more than that.

Maybe English is a key,

a key to understanding the world;

a way to hear different voices and to make your own voice heard.

English lets you read a foreign novel and feel the same heartbeat,
英语让你阅读外国小说时，能感受到同样的心跳，
watch a documentary and see the world from another pair of eyes.
观看纪录片时，能用另一双眼睛看世界。
It's not just grammar rules and vocabulary lists.
它不只是语法规则和单词表。
It's perspective, it's connection, it's power.
而是一种视角、一种联结、一种力量。
Because when you can speak to the world,
因为当你能够与世界对话，
you're no longer a bystander, a participant, a storyteller,a change-maker.

So maybe that's the real reason we learn English.
所以或许这才是我们学习英语的真正意义。
