According to Hong Kong’s “Eastern Net” reported on March 27, the National Crimes Bureau reported that the number of victims who were referred to the Bureau in 2017 for suspected trafficking was more than 5,000, and the number was highest in the calendar year.
The report pointed out that in the case handled by the UK's National Crime Bureau, the number of victims of British nationality was higher for the first time than in other countries, followed by Albanian and Vietnamese. The agency said that the increase in the number of victims of trafficking, coupled with increased public and victim awareness of trafficking issues, has increased the number of reports and referrals.
