When students study these days, many of them also do other things at the same time, for example, use their phones, spend time on the Internet, or listen to music.
Do you agree or disagree that such activities have a bad effect on learning?
Study has always been a tough and complex process, especially when you have to do it alone. Personally, I believe that it's not a bad decision to involve some other activities when you're learning. I feel this way for two reasons, which I will explore in the following essay.
To begin with, the activities other than study, like using phones or searching the Internet, can serve as a supplementary means. Once you have a question or uncertainty of the material or subject, having an effective channel to get the answers will always save a lot of time. Furthermore, when doing some innovative assignments, you can even get an excellent idea from a casual chat with friends online. My personal experience is a compelling illustration of this. Last month, I was working on a statistics project, which required a self-design survey analysis. Being totally fresh to this course, I really didn't know where to start this task. When I was stuck at the starting point, I got a message from a group chat. In it, a friend asked who were interested in joining a pet-themed exhibition, and shared an introduction link of the event. I clicked the link casually, and it suddenly inspired me that since so many people these days have a pet, an analysis on pet owners could be a wonderful approach for my assignment. With the help of an accidental message, my big problem was solved easily.
Secondly, other things, such as listening to music, can be a good way to relax during study. Within the long period of learning, or the process of a hard homework, a short and quick break of relaxation can assist the brain to get released and recovered a lot. Therefore, when you feel exhausted, it's better to stop and listen to a few favorite songs. For instance, my cousin, who is a fan of Jay Zhou, always has more than 50 Jay's songs stored in his cellphone. He told me that, during the toughest time of the exam week last semester, it was the music, Jay's songs, that supported his to get through. His experience well demonstrates the great role the other activities play in study.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that non-study activities definitely have positive impacts during learning process. This is because they can provide direct assistance to the study and help to relax and get refreshed.
