Embrace the Chaos (Mary Shelly)

Today's quote, pulled from the introduction to "Frankenstein", a Gothic novel written by Mary Shelly, reflects her thoughts on how creativity comes to life. It's a story about a well-meaning scientist who creates a monster. The author began writing this book in 1815, shortly after the death of her first child. On the page, her grief is palpable. But understanding the sentiment allows us to reimagine a rule that in a turmoil places in our own lives.  Complex feelings like anger, grief, and heartbreak are painful, but they are also integral to the human experience. We try so hard to silence these things. Yet, they crawl through us, our own monster ever ready to surface. But maybe instead of locking them away, we should embrace them as a part of our story. In "Frankenstein", the doctor suffers because he refuses to confront his monster.

You can choose a different path. Trust the chaos turning within you. Own it and wield it to create something worthy.
