Ma Xiaoqiu:My Redwood Furniture
多年前，当我第一次走进红木家私的展厅时，我站在由酸枝老料，大、小叶紫檀做成的办公家具面前，一时间，那种无形的摄受力让我不得不停下脚步，细细端详、慢慢品味……
Years ago,when I first walked into the exhibition hall of the redwood furniture,I stood in front of the office furniture made of old mahogany,big leaf sandalwood and lobular red sandalwood.I was immediately attracted by their invisible force.I had to stop to observe them carefully and appreciate them slowly…
越看越美，越看越喜欢，越触摸越不舍得离去。
The more I looked at them,the more beautiful they were;the more I touched them,the more I was unwilling to leave.
酸枝老料和大、小叶紫檀这三种红木色泽安静稳重内敛，用手触摸它的感觉如肌肤般光滑柔润，没有任何涂层，无需任何颜料的粉饰，只经人工细细打磨，就呈现了眼前这慢慢品味之后直接映入心田的感觉。据悉，酸枝和紫檀成材造器的时间需要五百年甚至上千年的时间。天哪，这是怎样的生长历程！五百年，经受多少天地日月之精华，多少次风雨中的飘摇，多少回炎炎烈日的熏烤？这千百年天地造化的品质，在工匠们的手里，无论怎样地被切割成块，之后再组合成形状各异的家具，前后经无数次工序的破壁，都无法破灭它千百年锻造的生命气息。于是它像注入了灵魂般不动不摇、内敛大气、含蓄、端庄、典雅。
The colors of the three kinds of redwoods,i.e.old mahogany,big leaf sandalwood and lobular red sandalwood,are respectively quiet,stable and steady.Touching them with hand,I felt smooth and soft like skin.Without any decoration with coating or paint,only by artificial fine grinding,it shows the feeling to fully display their charm in front of me touching deeply after slow appreciation.It is reported that the time for the furniture establishment of mahogany and sandalwood will take five hundred years or even thousands of years.Oh,how marvelous their growth process is！Five hundred years,they must have absorbed tremendous essence of the universe and undergone numerous days swaying in wind and rain as well as roasting and smoking under scorching sun over their longtime growth?The quality of the thousands of years of heaven and earth,in the hands of the craftsmen,no matter how cut into pieces,and then assembled into a variety of different shapes of furniture,Before and after the numerous improvements and breakthroughs in the processes,that still can not destroy the flavor of life that had been forged for thousands of years.So it is like a soul that is immobile,introverted,decent,implicit,dignified,elegant.
它以不言不语的方式走进你的心灵深处，和你无数次地轻声对话：《红楼》、《三国》、《水浒》、梅、兰、竹、菊、士君子。虽只一家具，我看见了它坚韧中的柔情似水，无声中的甜言蜜语。当手握扶手的瞬间，它所传递的不仅仅是江河湖海、万里波涛，还有多少年风中的摇曳、雨中的挺拔和烈日下的逍遥。有声时，势如破竹般令你惊吓不已，这是它成器之后唯一的声响，这声响足以惊醒你的灵魂。
They go deep into your soul without any word and talk gently with you in countless times about the"Red Chamber","Three Kingdoms","Water Margin",plum,orchid,bamboo,chrysanthemum,gentleman.Though they’re only pieces of furniture,I sense the tenderness behind their tenacity as well as sweet words in silence.At the moment when I hold on to their handrails,they not only convey rivers,lakes,seas and miles of waves to me,but also their numerous flickering sways in wind,tall and straight in the rain and leisure under the scorching sun over hundreds of years of their growth.When there is a sound,they will display a formidable force that you will marvel at.This is the only sound after their achievements.Such sound is enough to awaken your soul.
红木家具来之不易，风吹过、雨淋过、烈日熏烤过，走过千百年的路。常人虽读不出它那宁静中的厚重与深沉，端庄中的诗情画意，以及典雅中的灵性交感，但仅凭它的外表就足以让俗人爱、文人亲，让有品味之人沉醉其中，享受万千风景、百种故事，寄物于情、情丝万种。
The redwood furniture is hard-won.They have to undergo thousands of years of growth during which they will be blown by wind,drenched by rain and scorched by the sun.Ordinary people cannot read the thick and deep in their serenity,the poetic feelings in dignity,and the spiritual sense in elegance,However,only their appearance is already enough for common people to love them,for men of letters to be intimate with them and for appreciators to indulge in them and enjoy their thousands of sceneries,their hundreds of stories and endow them with all kinds of sentiments.
我感叹于这被风雨洗涤过的灵魂，哪里是金钱所能量化的，这经久不衰的魅力含蓄而深沉、素雅而大气、内敛而超凡脱俗！
I sigh at the soul baptized by the wind and rain.Such soul cannot be quantified with money.Such everlasting charm is implicit,deep,elegant,decent,introverted and extraordinary!
