I was deeply moved by his speech and actions. As an adult, I have my experience. They are my great assets, however, on the other hand, they also limit my life. I need to learn “start from zero” and liberate my spirit from the constraints.
It is easy to say, but hard to do. What does it mean to me? How can I start from zero?
As learning other skills, I need to find a master around me, observe him and learn from him. Fortunately, besides Heckel, I find a real master, and I can almost learn from him every day.
The master is my son, he is only 4 year old. As a little boy, he is almost a white paper. After he was born, he started his growth from zero.This growing process is really a miracle designed by the great nature or god.
He is very happy every day, and makes significant growth every week. I am eager to have his states.
How does the baby boy start from zero?
First of all, Curious, all the things around him are totally new. He carefully observes everything he can see, he can touch. When he was one year old, my son liked air-conditioners very much, he always asked me a lot of questions when he saw every new type of air-conditioner in the streets. The logo, shape, size, color, texture, the character, even the number of blades, he not only asked the details, but also asks why they were designed differently. It made me crazy. After several weeks, he was almost an expert of air-conditioner, he can quickly recognize every model of air-conditioners from very long distance, and told me all kinds of parameters. He has learned a lot from past four years. How about me? Compared with his progress, I feel very shamed.
Start from zero means to empty myself, be curious to the world.
Second one is to forget the past, babies have an amazing ability. They can laugh this moment, and cry in next minute, and vice versa, cry this moment, and laugh in next minute. I never see an adult have this ability. Have you ever tried to comfort your friends when they feel bad? We know it will take long time. We always live in past and are hard to step out the bad moods. In this case, we start from negative. Babies are always living in present, past is nothing for them. Forget the past, start from the zero every moment.
How can we forget? When we want to forget, on the contrary, we will remember.
We need to learn the third one, be focus. Two years before. I took my son to a forest park. All the mountains were full of beautiful flowers. He was very happy, and found one beautiful flower. He went to the flower, watched it. Twenty minutes passed, he still stayed there and played with that flower. It was a very big park with all kinds of flowers. I asked him to move around, he did not listen to me. One hour passed, he still stayed there. I lost my patience, and carried him several hundred meters away to another beautiful area, and put him down. However, he knew the way back, and walked back to the original place, and still played with that flower. I gave up. He spent whole afternoon with that flower.
He was very happy that afternoon. One flower was enough.
When we own the past, we will loose the present. Focus on every minute, we will own the moment and forget the past.
I want to have a happy life as a baby. They start their life from zero, and live every moment from zero. The secrets are curious, forget the past and focus.
