Heidi is my first book which I’ve read in 2021. It’s not very hard to follow author’s mind, normally for pupils or even children. For I bought it, then I think I should read it.

I am very happy to make that decision. As I found the book is rooted from a Germany story. Heidi is our main role, a 5 years old girl,  losting her parents since she was very little. Whereas she was adapted by her grandmother (mother side) and aunt Deta.

One day the aunt Deta had to gave her to her grandfather (father side) because of her new job in Frankfurt. In order to earn more money and offer Heidi a more comfortable life, Deta determined to leave her to her grandfather.

The grandfather was called as uncle Alp, living on the half of the mountain Alp. There a little hut on there, a big fur tree planted side. Also a bench stood in front of the hut, uncle Alp often sat there and watch down the valley. He had two goats  in the shed, every morning the goatherd Peter climbed up the hill and carried grandfather’s goats to the pasture, until the sunset.

Since Heidi was taken to the hut, she became the super star in goats herd. And Peter loved to see Heidi accompanying him to the other edge of the mountain. Day after day, they became the best friends for each other. Peter had a grandma who can’t see anything, longing to see Heidi. Because Heidi always can make her happy, bring her delight and light to her.

Life is so peaceful and wonderful, people may think that’s the everlasting. However, aunt Deta came back and took Heidi away to Frankfurt. For there’s a little girl named as Clara needs a classmate. Clara lived in a very fortune family in Frankfurt , but couldn’t stand. She is 10 years old, but without any friends. Clara was so glad to have Heidi together that she disobeyed her housekeeper’s order. And Heidi’s stories always made her laugh. Everyone living in Frankfurt loved Heidi, they wish this harmonious life can be forever. But Heidi was longing for her home on the Alp. She missed her grandfather, Peter’s grandma, Peter and goats. Nobody noticed Heidi’s unhappy face, until they found she’s  a dream walker. The doctor announced that Heidi must be sent away, if not she would be very sick.

Heidi finally came back to the Alp with doctor. She carried the white rolls for grandma, and many gifts. The light again emerged on the old woman’s face.

After Heidi departed, Clara’s health was becoming worse and worse. The family decided to visit Heidi on the Alp. Hoping the journey can help her recover.

The two little ones met again. Clara was so happy that she wanted live on the Alp with Heidi and uncle Alp. Grandfather gave them the fresh milk to drink, they became stronger and stronger under the natural and healthy environment. We can see that from Clara’s red face and beautiful laughing.

Everybody looked very happy for the scenery, but Peter. He was very angry at Clara, because she seized Heidi all the time, and Heidi couldn’t go to the pasture with him.

One day, Peter pushed Clara’s wheelchair down the mountain, in order to make her leave. But he was frightened by his bad behavior, he rushed to the pasture to escape uncle Alp’s suspicion. Actually, uncle Alp know everything, however he didn’t point out.

During this period, Clara’s father climbed up the mountain, wanted to look his daughter. He met Peter who was posting letter for grandma. Peter misunderstood Clara’s father as the police, arriving here to arrest him. He was too scared to say a word. Meanwhile, Clara stood on herself without the wheelchair’s support. That’s definitely a great news to everybody.

In the end, people gathered in the Alp. They laughed, ate, talked, celebrated. Peter confessed his bad behavior and won the rewards from Clara’s grandma. Clara would travel around the country and she can walk by herself now. Heidi got her second family in Frankfurt.

That’s a happy ending. Tell us that we should be kind to others and try our best to help them. Then God would see everything we have done, and bless you.

The story ends at this part. It’s a classic Christine story, full of many warm and touching minutes. I guess it’s very suitable to read before sleep. If you have a child, it’s a good choice to pick.
