Flow is called the psychology of optimal. If we want to experience it, our skill should be enough to cope with the current challenge. We should get clear feedbacks of our behaviors instantly in a goal-oriented system. And our attention should be very concentrated and we forget the passage of time.
When I run a long way, I could experience flow. My current physical energy could support me to run a half-marathon. Every time I begin a half-marathon, I’ll plan a route that lasts over 10km at one direction so when I come home, I just finish the half-marathon. While running, my mind is in a relaxing state without thinking about any disturbing thing and I only focus on my next step. Every step is my every small target and every kilometer is my middle target. When I finish the whole distance, I finish the final and biggest target. Such a distance cost me about 2 hours but I feel it’s like only one hour.
If I was required to finish one challenging job in a very short period, I would put aside anything what I was doing and paid all attention and attainable resources to this job. I forgot time and any other annoying thing. Limited time stimulated my potential energy. I could feel I was into the state of selflessness. When I finished such a challenge job, I was very satisfied with my efforts.
