He felt a pang of guilt. He resolved that he would spend more time with his father. It was a
cop-out and he admitted it, but he didn’t know what else to do.

They went to a place named Shrimp Shack, in downtown Wilmington.
The place had looked run-down, with a broad, cluttered porch, peeling paint, and a crooked roofline that made it appear as if the place were about to fall over. The exterior was decorated with nets, hubcaps, license plates, an old anchor, oars, and a few rusty chains. A broken rowboat sat near the door. Most of the customers looked as if they worked hard for a living.
Savannah liked the place.
3. Why’s this place special for John? When did he usually go there?
This was more of a place for John and his friends when they wanted to eat instead of drink, and he never brought a girl there except Savannah.
There was no better food after a day spent surfing, so they usually went there after surfing.
4. What were Savannah’s parents like?
They were suckers for stray animals.
5. What made John toss and turn in bed that night?
John toss and turn in bed because he had a good time with Savannah, he had to relive the events of the day.
