I was on the subway this morning. One message popped out of my phone. It read, "Beijing confirms two patients with novel coronavirus." I was shocked. And then the funny thing was that I stepped forward and fled the train box when I heard the coughing behind me.
What a coward I am!
Now this experience brings up the memories back to me.
When the SARS virus broke out, I was in middle school. Back then I had no fear since I was young and lived in the country. To be honest, I was a little happy because of the short vacation away from school and homework.
I remember a Chinese medicine named radix isatidis was sold out.
Then in the year 2009, when I was a sophomore studentH1N1 flu raged the globe and we were kept in dorm for nearly a month. News were heard that some students got fever and were separated in classroom since the campus ran out of beds. I still remember some roommates kept measuring body temperature.
I still remember their anxiety to go home I still remember one night when I sneaked out of the campus together with one of the classmates only to get a bite. Unfortunately, we were caught and warned by some leader who we had never seen before.
Now again, we're having a new type of pneumonia-causing coronavirus,
first spotted in Wuhan and then transmitted Shenzhen and Beijing. 217 people have been affected and 1 person died by now. Despite of the sever condition, I have confidence in our government to control the spread of the disease and finally wipe it out.
What I see behind the issue is we are better prepared, information is better disclosed and the public are showing more ration than panic
Chinese New Year is coming and I hope those infected people recover soon.
