甘比英文拓展写作- Persuasion 2- Simmon

"It is better to have broad knowledge than to specialize in one specific subject."

I disagree with this idea and believe that having one specific area to concentrate on is far more important than having a broad knowledge.

"You can be anything, but you can't be everything." Nowadays, it's the talented workers in different areas make the world keep spinning. It is important that we all find places of our own and dedicate to our jobs. Some students can't get very good total points, but they earn the first places in one specific subject, in the end they can also be experts in their areas, usually even do better than those who get higher total points. These kind of examples can be seen everywhere. If you want to be a scientist, you can't achieve that by painting abstract pictures and reading romantic novels all day.

It is no doubt we should have a passionate heart towards new things and keep learning about new areas, but this does not mean to drop the things you are concentrating on and just start a new program of your life. There are some careers in society that seem to acquire people in those professions to have "broad knowledge". Media worker, for instance, are required to be knowledge, for hosting a TV program, writing a social comment, etc. They talk about everything as if they were the experts themselves, but actually most of them are just good at talking, or writing, or singing, and they have their specific techniques to make you convinced by their tricks. When you put them into another profession, they have to start over, and it's certainly hard for them to make the quantities of value when working in their old career.
