Lesson21 Mad or not? 是不是疯了?

Aeroplanes are slowly driving me mad. I live near an airport and passing planes can be heard night and day. The airport was built during the war(为什么这里翻译成很久以前), but for some reason it could not be used then. Last year, however, it came into use. Over a hundred people must have been driven away from their homes by the noise. I am one of the few people left. Sometimes I think this house will be knocked down by a passing plane. I have been offered a large sum of money to go away, but I am determined to stay here. Everybody says I must be mad and they are probably right.

From My View:

There is an airport which was built during the war in the south of this city. But for some reason, the airport could not be used then. Last year, the local government decided to put it into use and offerred the citizens who lived there a large sum of money to move away. While more than one hundred people were driven away from home by the noise, a few people continue to stay anyway. People who have been moved away says those who left must be crazy and what they says obviously is right. Because the passing planes can be heard day and night and people who stay cannot sleep well. I think they will be mad soon!

From A Leaver's View:

Last year, the airport near my house came into use. It was built during the war but for some reason, it could be used then. The authority give us who lived here two choices: one is to go away with a large sum of money, the other is to continue to stay here with the noisy planes. I choose to leave because I need money as well as peace and quiet. One of my friend who I recognized in childhood refused to go away. As he said he was loath to part with his homeland in where he grown up. The day before yesterday, he complained to me about the noise of passing planes in a phone call. He said he has regretted having given up the opportunity to go away since the airport started running.
