Animal Farm is the first English novel I have even read. I knew it from a study platform. I read about one page of it every workday in the past six months，and spent more than 127 hours in finishing it.

The writer is George Orwell. He was an English writer and reporter. He was borned in India in 1903 when India was still a colony of England. His family was not rich，and he had the opportunity to know the life at the bottom of society.

The omnipresence of power and domination, and the Stalinist totalitarianism that allowed no individual will, only strengthened Orwell's faith in socialism，or indeed democratic socialism.

Animal Farm is a political allegorical novel that tells the story of the animal revolution in England. The animals could not bear the oppression of human beings，and under the leadership of the pigs， they rose up and resisted. Finally，the farmer was driven away and the desire of the animals to be the masters of the farm was realized. But the good times did not last long. Infighting broke out among the leaders，and the victors expelled the losers. Having gained absolute control of the farm，the victorious party degenerates into a worse than human being，a exploiter，a ruler，a dictator.

But in Britain, where he was suspected of being a communist, Orwell was closely watched for more than 30 years until his death in January 1950 at the age of 47 from lung disease.
