“军政府造四川铜币”是辛亥革命时期的产物。1911年12月发生“成都叛乱”,以尹昌衡、罗纶为正副都督的四川军政府取代了建设仅12天的大汉四川军政府。新的四川军政府建设之初即面临着需用日繁、度支日绌的财政困窘时势。军政府迅速接受了四川成都造币厂,决议铸造“四川铜币”以应急。民国元年（1912年）4月,四川成都造币厂奉四川军政府之命,开模铸造“军政府造四川铜币”（也称“汉”字铜元）。
文中此枚就是精美的“军政府造四川铜币”，如图，正面中央珠圈内镌“四川铜币”四个字，四个字中间镌一朵精美的芙蓉花，象征蓉城成都。珠圈外上端镌“军政府造”四个字，下端镌币值“当制钱一百文”，左右两侧各镌一个四瓣花星，银币背面中央圆圈内镌一个篆文“汉”字，代表了新政府“大汉”的意思，具有反清意义。有横向底纹装饰，旁围十八个小圆圈组成的圆圈，内镌纵向饰纹，象征着当年响应辛亥革命的十八个省。
一百文是当时铸造最少也是最珍惜的。“军政府造四川铜币”发行量较大，流通时间较长，现今存世量亦较多。其各种面值中除五文、十文者外，其余三种面额版式繁多，一百文发行量极少，向来经济规律和收藏首要以“物以稀为贵”定律为标准，就此证明此钱币有极高的收藏价值。
