Today is Thursday. It's the last day of this holiday.
Just before the winter holidays, one of my son's classmates set up a writing club. The members of that club should write some articles during the holidays. My son joined in and some of his classmates joined in too. Their Chinese teacher gave them some pieces of advice. The founder is a boy. At first he set a subject: how do you look upon the possible effect of Donald Trump being selected the new president of the United States to China. Wow, that's really shocked me. He is just in grade four. The other members in that club talked about the subject in their WeChat group. Almost everyone including my son objected to write the article of that subject. They expressed some kinds of reason, like the subject was too big for him, she even didn't know the president, etc. The founder boy also expressed his opinions. He said the subject had been admitted by their teacher. He said, "We should concern about these big international news. If you don't know the thing, you can look it up from the internet."
At last he posted his article. In that article he wrote his opinions on the Trump's character and his possible policy to Japan, Taiwan and China. That really shocked me again. My son didn't know those at all and he didn't want to write the article. He wanted to quit that club. I thought it for a while and tried to persuade him to stay in the club. Finally he agreed. Then I helped him look up from the internet and found an article about this subject for reference. I explained some names and concepts for him and gave him some pieces of advice. I encouraged him to finish the article.
After an hour, when he gave me his work I was shocked again. He expressed his opinions on Trump and how bad he would treat China. At the end of the article he said he believe China would overcome those difficulties.
What a long and boring article I wrote! I just want to say the children's potential is enormous and their abilities can be outstanding. I should never look down them.
